Part P was introduced in January 2005, and forms the electrical section of the building regulations.

their own work under part P of the building regulations, which now covers almost all electrical work carried out in the home.

NAPIT along with the NICEIC and ELECSA are part of just a handful of government endorsed competant persons schemes able to register  electricians. Registered electricians meet strict membership requirements which as well as checking relevent electrical qualifications, also ensures that good business practices are met, relevent professional insurance policies are in place, and annual visits review real jobs to confirm the quality and safety of the work being done.
